Jessica Rice has been a passionate artist all her life. Though new to painting, she has always been expressive, drawing endlessly as a child. Today, her imagination lives on the canvas, where she seeks to channel and convey a uniquely surrealistic perspective. As a painter, her work reveals a fascination with the contrast between vivid color and color restraint, and with juxtaposing divergent symbols – the beautiful with the macabre, the natural world with technology. She studied painting under Laura Fisher, and is majoring in art education at the University of Houston, downtown. Jessica is 28 years old and lives in Cypress, Texas with her two daughters, whom she teaches the importance of expression through the arts.
